A recipe for persuasive writing
Ingredients
A scattering of interesting vocabulary
The necessary base of grammar and
punctuation
A droplet of inspiration
Opinion
A dollop of originality
- Take a droplet of inspiration and stir vigorously until you can easily flow into your opening sentence. If
this does not happen, relax before stirring vigorously again to create a ‘brainstorm’.
- Take a dollop of originality and knead together with your base of grammar and punctuation. You should knead the mixture
until you can no longer feel the grains of the full stops and commas. Feel free to pour in as much grammar and punctuation
as you feel necessary. The more the better.
- Add your mixture of originality, punctuation and grammar to the inspiration. You should find that the mixture fits
together perfectly.
- Pour in half a pint of opinion. Be prepared to use both pros and cons as looking at your opinion from both
sides often makes the mixture fluffier and easier to chew.
- Allow your opinion to sizzle for up to 5 minutes before adding a scattering of interesting vocabulary. This enhances
the mixture and allows the reader to fully appreciate it.
- Last, but not least, warm the mixture on an Epson printer before leaving to cool.
